Way of Council
Way of Council is one of Vista's signature practices to educate the "whole child." Every student at Vista participates in Way of Council in their classes to build empathy, rapport, and deep interpersonal relationships. Way of Council allows students and teachers to engage in authentic, heartfelt communication that is crucial in order to nurture a safe and warm learning environment.
Way of Council is built around four core principles:
- Speak from the heart
- Listen from the heart
- Speak spontaneously in order to actively listening to others
- Speak leanly in order to provide everyone with an equal opportunity to share.
Way of Council is also an example of how Vista uses restorative practices that focused improving and repairing relationships through community-building.
